At its regular meeting in Colorado Springs on June 4, the University of Colorado Board of Regents unanimously approved a resolution condemning the June 1 attack in Boulder that injured 12 participants in a peaceful vigil supporting Israeli hostages.
"This unprovoked, violent act specifically targeted the Jewish community, reflecting a broader and very troubling escalation of antisemitism in the broader community," states the resolution. "As an institution of higher learning, where we prize each individual’s freedom to pursue their chosen path, we must speak clearly and with one voice that antisemitic violence should not and will not be tolerated in our communities, in our state and in our nation."
In 2024, the Board of Regents adopted a resolution condemning antisemitism and all other forms of discrimination. In addition to condemning the June 1 attack, the June 4 resolution cites support for the survivors of the attack and their families, expresses appreciation to law enforcement, other first responders and good Samaritans, and reiterates the Board's condemnation of antisemitism and all other forms of discrimination.
The full resolution follows:
STATEMENT OF INFORMATION:
On June 1, 2025, a horrific attack on the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder injured twelve participants in a peaceful vigil supporting Israeli hostages. This unprovoked, violent act specifically targeted the Jewish community, reflecting a broader and very troubling escalation of antisemitism in the broader community. As an institution of higher learning, where we prize each individual’s freedom to pursue their chosen path, we must speak clearly and with one voice that antisemitic violence should not and will not be tolerated in our communities, in our state and in our nation.
Antisemitism and other forms of discrimination have no place at the University of Colorado, and the Board of Regents is committed to ensuring it remains welcoming to all people. To this end, the Board of Regents adopted a resolution condemning antisemitism and all other forms of discrimination on June 20, 2024. Further, consistent with regent law and policy, the University of Colorado has a nondiscrimination policy (APS 5065) designed to ensure equal access to academic and professional experiences at CU, including for our Jewish students, staff, faculty, and visitors. This resolution and this policy are a clear statement of CU’s commitment to safeguarding the dignity and rights of our community members.
