Jeff Howard

Vice President for University Communication

As vice president for communication, Jeff Howard works closely with University of Colorado President Todd Saliman, the CU Board of Regents, Senior Vice President for External Relations and Strategy Danielle Radovich Piper, and other members of the president’s executive team on major strategic and universitywide communication initiatives.

He also collaborates with chancellors, provosts, vice chancellors, chiefs of staff, state and federal government relations liaisons, students, faculty, staff, and other leaders on the CU Boulder, CU Colorado Springs, CU Denver, and CU Anschutz Medical campuses.

Howard serves as the CU system’s official spokesman and oversees CU’s internal and external communications, as well as community and special events. Among many other responsibilities, Howard fosters collaboration among communications teams across the CU system and campuses, and searches for opportunities to share resources and expertise.

Before joining CU in March 2023, Howard was managing partner of the Gomez Howard Group, an integrated marketing and communications firm. Additionally, he held positions at the University of Denver, including senior associate athletic director and executive director of alumni relations; he served as spokesperson for the National Collegiate Athletics Association; and was director of corporate communications for the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee. Howard began his communications career at the Denver Broncos before becoming the sports producer at KWGN-TV (Channel 2).

Howards holds a Bachelor of Arts in sports information and reporting from Metropolitan State University of Denver, and an Executive Master of sport organization management from the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 in France. Jeff and his wife, Gerri, have three adult children (Justin, Jacque and Jacob).
