Murphy Robinson III
Murphy Robinson III is the CEO of Robinson Corp. Security Group, a Colorado-based security portfolio company.
Murphy’s company provides security consulting services to the Office of the President and each of CU’s campuses to help ensure the safety and security of university leadership, faculty, staff, and students. His firm provides onsite security coordination for public meetings, crisis mitigation and coordination, and system-wide security policy and protocol implementation.
Murphy brings a unique perspective to the state of Colorado, with a career that spans public safety, city management, and entrepreneurship. Murphy leads CLOQ, a high-level security consulting and corporate intelligence firm that supports Fortune 500 companies and education institutions and government entities in areas such as executive protection, crisis response, and security strategy.
In the public sector, Murphy served as Deputy Mayor, Chief Operating Officer, and Executive Director of Public Safety for the City and County of Denver. In these roles, he oversaw 23 departments, managed a $2 billion budget, and led a workforce of over 15,000 employees. In 2020, he directed Denver’s emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic, established a nationally recognized testing center, and coordinated public safety operations involving more than 6,000 personnel.
Earlier in his career, Murphy held leadership roles as Assistant City Manager in both Brighton and Englewood, Colorado, where he led financial turnarounds, major infrastructure projects, and citywide branding initiatives. As a police officer, he earned the Life Saving Award and commendations for his work in DUI enforcement and investigations.

Murphy holds a bachelor’s degree from Xavier University and a master’s in Public Policy and Politics from the University of Colorado. He has completed executive training at the Rocky Mountain Leadership Program and Leadership Denver. His accolades include Denver Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 (2021), Xavier University’s lifetime achievement Magis Award (2022), and Titan 100 CEO recognition for 2024.
